Summit is book 4 in the Ricochet Ridge series, but can be read as a standalone.
This was a beautiful, heartbreaking story. Zeke comes from a difficult situation, and the author doesn't shy away from giving us a clear feel of the worst parts.
The romance is slow to develop on the physical side, but emotionally I was invested from page 1. The story is caring, sweet and heartfelt, giving Zeke a place to heal and get back to truly being himself.
Talon is super sweet and loving, and through the story acts as a protector and number one fan of Zeke, helping him heal and prosper. While we get a bi-awakening from him, it never takes center stage, because this isn't really his story, and I appreciated how he didn't make a big deal out of it.
I also appreciated how the conflict from the different backgrounds was treated, and how it came to be resolved.
I feel like, among all the good things this book made me feel, a disclaimer is needed. Zeke is a DV survivor, and while I get why the plot moves as it does, I'm not sure this is a realistic representation of how you move on from that kind of situation. But this book isn't a guide, it's a love story, and should be read as such.
In the end, this was truly a binge worth read, something you pick up and cannot put down until the last page. I really enjoyed Zeke and Talon's story, and all the good feelings that came with it.
